SMB support for streaming off NAS

I'd like to express support for SMB streaming off a NAS.

I have a Western Digital NAS; I've experimented with DLNA, but determined that the WD NAS was not capable of gapless streaming over DLNA, so I switched to streaming over SMB to the Neutron Android app, which works pretty well, but I'd love to transition to Foobar for Android when it is available.

    Thanks for your consideration.

I'd like to +1 this request, SMB support will increase compatibility with the various NAS units on the market, that may have spotty DLNA support or none at all.

+1 I would love to be able to add external music folders over SMB. Like I imagine (haven't tried it yet) the "add external folder" over FTP works, only over SMB. It would be much less hassle than setting up an FTP server.
